Can anyone help i have a 1998 pontiac gtp,that is having a fuel problem?

i put gas in it one day and then it did not want to run ,now after it sits for a few hours it will not start unless i take out the fuel pump relay out and put it back in ,then it will start and run fine untill it sits for a while. anyone know what the problem could be?
