Is age a big problem?

i have been with my boyfriend for about a month or so.we get along very well and he understands me well and vice versa.but the people around us think that he's too old for me.we are of a age difference of 6 years.both of us dont think its a big issue and he thinks that i think more maturely than most people of my age.even my teachers think so too.i hope that you can give me some advice on this.thank you
