How to rid spiders of garage?

Ok well I want to clean my garage out good. The garage has not been used for storing a car in a long time. So you can imagine the spiders that are in there. The garage isnt too cluttered with boxes I can see the floor in most parts of the garage. But I can also see the spider webs in the corners and the rafters. Whats a good cheap way to get rid of these spiders. The garage isn't connected directly to the house. But its close so I don't really want these things getting scared and taking over my house. Its winter here so I think this is the best time to kill them when they are hiding. I live in southern california.
