What would have happened if Rutherford had used silver foil instead of gold?

My chem teacher posed this question in cl and I've been doing research about it. The importance of the experiment was that it showed that Au had a dense nucleus that would deflect alpha particles. Wouldn't the findings have been the same if he had used silver instead? My logic is that Ag has a dense nucleus and is surrounded by the electron cloud. I feel like I may be misunderstanding the purpose of Rutherford's experiment. I thought it was to find the atomic structure of an atom. If anyone could enlighten me it would be appreciated.
