What is the the difference between the Sigma APO-M 70-300mm and the Sigma 70-300mm?

I am looking to upgrade to a higher zoom camera lens for my Nikon D40. I was looking at my options and this brand was much cheaper than Nikon lenses. I can't decide which one I prefer, and they seem almost identical. Please help!
