What happens to your consciousness after death?

I've been thinking a lot about death recently, so I have decided to ask this. First of all, it's a legitimate question. I'm not trollin'. I am looking for any insight anyone might have. Maybe what some cultures believe? I have read about the people that survive near-death experiences, but I believe they are delirious due to lack of oxygen to the brain. Thanks in advance. Oh, also.
