Can an American Bulldog ever get along with a kitten?

I have an eleven month old American Bulldog named Chase. He socializes well with other dogs but I had this crazy idea to get a kitten to help with the mouse problem in our townhouse. we brought an 8 week old kitten home yesterday and Chase keeps trying to get to him. i am tying letting him sniff things with the kittens sent and holding the kitten and using the command 'Leave it" but it only lasts for a few seconds before he's back act trying to get him. i dont want the kitten to be scared and unhappy so if im facingan immpossible battle I'll have to get rid of the kitten but i really wanna kep him. Please help!
